This is the Catalan equivalent of a 'title deed'. There's always an escritura drawn up when an object changes owner, the salesperson is required to turn over the old escritura
and further legal documents, the new owner will than first receive the old escritura and then the new one.
Escritura de Hipoteca: Mortgage deed that will be drawn up in which the object is described, the new owner listed and the sum of the mortgage involved.
Escritura Pública de Compraventa: Title deed. This is the only legal document declaring without any shadow of a doubt who the owner of the property is. This can be a house but also a boat or a piece of land
